A research prototype for subsea intervention

SIRIS explores how an underwater robot, AI perception, IoT telemetry and a human operator can work together to monitor coral reefs and Biorock structures and to remove marine debris and ghost gear.

Prototype / Concept

Scope

The SIRIS concept covers four mission types: coral reef monitoring, Biorock condition monitoring (including electrical cable runs), marine debris removal and ghost gear intervention. Each mission follows the same loop — perceive, assess, authorize, intervene, verify, publish.

This website is a concept demonstration of that ecosystem. There is no live robot connected and no field deployment behind it. Every metric, map marker, telemetry value, mission record and audit entry shown across the public site and the Operator Portal is simulated demonstration data.

The AI layer is presented as an intelligent perception and decision-support system. It does not autonomously control the robot. Operators authorize each intervention and remain responsible for critical decisions.

Prototype Limitations

  • • No real field measurements are presented.
  • • Model performance figures are illustrative only.
  • • Authentication is client-side demo logic, not production security.
  • • No specific encryption algorithm is claimed or implemented.
  • • Map coordinates are generalized, never precise robot positions.

Data Policy

  • • Public layer: aggregated impact statistics and monitoring summaries.
  • • Operational layer: live camera, telemetry, AI detections, controls, audit logs.
  • • Roles: Public / Researcher / Operator / Admin.
  • • Operational data is only reachable inside the Operator Portal.
